WE DIRECT OUR MINDS TO GOD
DECLARING OUR UNITY IN WORSHIP
Isaiah 12:2-4
Surely God is our Salvation!
We will trust and not be afraid! For God is our strength and song — and our only salvation.
With joy we will draw water from the wells of salvation. And we will say in that day —
“Give thanksgiving to God! Call upon God’s Name! Make known God’s deeds among all the nations! Proclaim the power of God!”
PRAYER SEEKING GOD’S PRESENCE
Ever living and loving God, we gather to drink deeply from Your living water. Ever giving and seeing Jesus, we gather to taste and receive Your goodness. Ever moving and encouraging Spirit, we gather desiring a fresh wind. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we worship You in spirit and in truth. Amen.

GOD, WE’RE LISTENING
John 4:1-15
read by Bekah Carlson
Now when Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard, “Jesus is making and baptizing more disciples than John” (although it was not Jesus Himself but His disciples who baptized), He left Judea and started back to Galilee. But He had to go through Samaria. So He came to a Samaritan city called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired out by His journey, was sitting by the well. It was about noon.
A Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” (His disciples had gone to the city to buy food.) The Samaritan woman said to Him, “How is it that You, a Jew, ask a drink of me, a woman of Samaria?” (Jews do not share things in common with Samaritans.) Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” The woman said to him, “Sir, You have no bucket, and the well is deep. Where do You get that living water? Are You greater than our ancestor Jacob, who gave us the well and with his sons and his flocks drank from it?” Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but those who drink of the water that I will give them will never be thirsty. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.” The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I may never be thirsty or have to keep coming here to draw water.”

GOD HELP US
Prayer
WE CONCLUDE WITH THE LORD’S PRAYER:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
THANKING GOD FOR HIS GOODNESS
We offer God a portion of our money as a way to say we love God, and desire to encourage the ministry & mission of the church.

Benevolence offering
Ravenswood Covenant takes a retiring benevolence offering on the first Sunday of the month to give people a chance to aid those in our congregation and community who are experiencing immediate financial needs (rent, food, transportation, medical issues, etc.). You can add your contribution to the monthly benevolence offering by placing it in the gray wooden box in the narthex as you leave the sanctuary.
Fran Fostey
Fran Fostey, sister of Alice Westlind and a former member of Ravenswood Covenant who served a term as the church’s treasurer two decades ago, passed away on Tuesday morning in California after a long struggle with cancer. An announcement about memorial gifts is pending. Peace to her memory.
Christian student seeks apartment
Sam Samana, a student who was worshipping at a Covenant church in the St. Louis area while attending college and has now moved to Chicago to do an internship, is seeking an apartment on the North Side. If you know of any apartment availabilities, please contact Gregory in the church office.
Sunday School
Sunday School at Ravenswood Covenant meets every Sunday, starting at 10:00 am, except during the holiday season. We encourage everyone to bring their children to Sunday School to learn about the Bible so that they can grow in faith and knowledge of God. “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
(Proverbs 22:6)
Faith Forum
Faith Forum, the adult Christian education class that meets during the Sunday School hour (starting at 10:00 am) during the school year, is now in session. Plan to join us each Sunday as we learn and grow in our faith as a community of believers.
Confirmation
Confirmation is a two-year course of study for students around 7th-9th grade. We studied the Old Testament last year. This year we are studying the New Testament. Confirmation classes take place at 7:30 pm on Thursday evenings.

If you would like to be added to the email list for the newsletter, please speak to Gregory Sager or call the church office.
Coffee hour serving committees
With the start of a new school year we are seeking volunteers to serve during coffee hour. Volunteers are divided into committees that rotate coffee-hour responsibilities between the committees on a monthly basis, with members of each committee taking charge of one Sunday coffee hour during each month that her or his committee serves.
