Parenting ProGRESS is a unique ministry that serves teen parents living in the community.
Participants attend Amundsen or Lake View High School or are recent graduates. The children of the teen parents attend Ravenswood Community Child Care Center at a discounted rate. Ravenswood Community Child Care Center is a NAEYC accredited child care center located in the church building and serves children ages 6 weeks to 5 years.
By providing child care for the children, the teen parents are able to focus on educational and vocational goals.
The Parenting ProGRESS program provides weekly Life Skills classes for parents and has partnered with MOPS International to provide quality curriculum based support. Topics include but are not limited to: budgeting, resume writing, nutrition, basic cooking and reading to your children. Teen parents are always welcome to stop by after school to receive help with homework as well. A computer lab is available to all program participants.
Volunteers assist with leading Life Skills meetings in an area of interest.
The Kids Closet is a space filled with a variety of new items donated for the children. Items include bottles, clothing, toys, books and much more. Donations of new items are accepted throughout the year.
Current needs for the baby closet include:
diaper wipes diapers size 3-5
children's books
clothing sizes 3T-5T
